Sabrina Gonzalez Pasterski is a remarkable theoretical physicist who pushed the limits of this study to the point of getting a nickname ‘the new Einstein’.
Born in Chicago on June 3rd in 1993, she had always shown signs of interest in engineering. Her parents, Maria Gonzalez and Mark Pasterski were always very supportive, especially her father who is an electrical engineer and attorney.
Early Life of Sabrina Gonzalez Pasterski
She enrolled in the Edison Regional Gifted Center in 1998, at the age of 5. She graduated from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in 2010. Sabrina took her first flying lessons in 2003 and piloted FAA1 at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in 2005.
In 2006, she started building her first aircraft. Her first solo flight was in that kit aircraft she finished in 2009 after she was signed off by her flight instructor. She was only 16 when she was done with her own, handmade aircraft and she could already operate fly on her own!
Education
While still being a sophomore at MIT, she was a part of the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Her early work resulted in the discovery of the ‘spin memory effect’ which can be used to detect or verify the net effects of gravitational waves.

Pasterski also completed the paper for electromagnetic memory in 2015 with two coworkers. That paper was cited by Stephen Hawking in 2016. Hawking kept following her work.
By 2019, she got her PhD in Physics from Harvard University and now she is a postdoc at Princeton University’s Princeton Center for Theoretical Science. Sabrina has a long list of unusual accomplishments, including her 5.00 undergraduate GPA from MIT.
