Elon Musk is a well-known engineer, inventor and celebrity, especially after gaining the title of the richest man on Earth. If you ever wondered where his riches come from, you must have informed about his companies.
Did you know he is also the owner of ‘Boring Company’? Yes, that is the real name. However, this company is everything but boring.
What does the Boring Company do?
The Boring Company is working on creating safe and fast ways of low-cost transportation, utilities and freight tunnels. Their main mission is to solve traffic problems and enable rapid transportation from one place to another. The main goal is to transform cities.
Their first idea of transformation is building a net of tunnels. It would be all-electric, zero-emission public transportation completely underground, where nothing would stop the vehicles. The first working example of this idea is already in use in Las Vegas. Check the video below.
If these plans come true, they could drastically change the traffic. From long traffic jams where we lose hours of our time, we could be arriving at our destination in just minutes. Tunnels will be connected with loops to all major destinations like airport, city centre, major hotels and museums etc.
Is Elon Musk building a subway?
No, nothing like that. It’s more like an underground highway than the subway. If the subway had 100 stops, the train would stop in each of those lines, making the trip unbearably long.
However, Loop passengers will travel directly to their destination without any unnecessary stops. The express system will also allow Loop vehicles to travel faster than conventional subway cars.
Regarding safety, the Loop is probably one of the most secure places for traffic in existence. Equipped with Tesla Models S, 3, and X, there is little risk for passengers as these are top rating cars when it comes to safety. Loop tunnels also have emergency exits, ventilation that will remove smoke in case of fire and it’s prepared for cases of heavy rain.
If you wondered what happens during the earthquakes – nothing. Being in the tunnel during the earthquake is very safe as it moves uniformly with the ground. In comparison to the ground above which will go through a large amount of damage, tunnels will stay intact.
